Michael Schumacher and Ferrari secured the pole position and front row in United States Grand Prix Qualifying with a scintillating performance. Schumacher and Massa dominated all saturday finishing 1-2 in the third and final practice and finally securing the front row in qualifying. Its one of the dominating performances by Ferrari after a long time with Alonso managing only 5th place. Schumi trails Fernando Alonso by 25 points in the championship but enjoys a formidable record at Indianapolis and hinted at another successful weekend today.
World champion Alonso, who has NEVER finished a race at Indianapolis was down in 5th and anything can happen in the race but IMO Schumi will take away minimum of 4 points from Alonso’s lead in this race. Michael Schumacher was listed 30th on Forbes, The Celebrity 100 list released by Forbes. Although its a step down for Schumi who was ranked 17th in 2005 beat David Beckham and other top stars. The year’s biggest winners were the entertainment stalwarts with Tom Cruise still reigning supreme at the box office and on Forbes list. Keifer Sutherland appears this year at No. 67 as a result of the incredible success of his Fox television series, 24. He reportedly inked a $40 million contract to play Agent Jack Bauer for at least three more seasons.

Michael Schumacher will remain as the President and Director of Grand Prix Drivers’ Association (GPDA) following a half-hour meeting on Friday afternoon between the members of the GPDA closed ranks. The meeting, which took place behind closed doors in Silverstone’s paddock, was concluded without a major incident and the details of the meeting were not revealed.
Coulthard, a fellow GPDA director, said
I don’t want to say too much about what the discussion was, but we are still represented by the three main Directors. I think it was a good meeting, It was good to clear the air over the ‘he said, she said’ of the last two weeks. Everyone is unanimous in that we are together and that we want to move forward and Michael is a major player in that.
I think it’s time to put an end to this Schumi’s issue and concentrate on the rest of the season.

Flavio Briatore thinks that World champion Fernando Alonso’s move to McLaren in 2007 could provide Renault with a motivational boost and will have a fresh motivation for 2007, to make sure Renault is beating McLaren and Alonso. Alonso announced in December that even though he’d just won the title with Renault he would be leaving the team at the end of this year’s Championship.
The seven time World Champion, Michael Schumacher who dominated the Monaco Grand Prix between 1994 and 2001, winning five times, has only two podium finishes to show for the last four years was cautiously optimistic for this weekends race. Schumacher is currently 15 points adrift of championship leader Fernando Alonso and a strong qualifying position is vital for the former champion if he is to make a dent in the Renault driver’s lead, on a track where overtaking is notoriously difficult. Schumacher and Ferrari did it again in style in the European GrandPrix at Nurburgring. Its almost a replica of the season opener where Schumacher led the race from the start and lost the position to Alonso during the second pitstops. The main difference here at Nurburgring is Ferrari is faster almost all the race and the Renault just holded them untill the second pitstops. But a superb drive from Schumacher saw him crossing the line with a comfortable margin. Read More »
Michael Schumacher won the San Marino Grand Prix after withstanding the pressure from Championship leader Fernando Alonso in the second half of the race. While Schumacher took the chequered flag, it really was a case of a race lost for Renault as much as a race won for Ferrari. The result was Schumacher’s 85th Grand Prix success, the first competitive win since Suzuka 2004. Michael Schumacher made F1 history on Saturday when he broke Ayrton Senna’s pole position record in Imola, the scene of Ayrton Senna’s tragic death 12 years ago. Schumacher, who has won this race six times in the past not only achieved this feat at the very track where the Brazilian claimed his final P1 slot but also infront of Tifosi at Ferrari‘s home. Michael Schumacher became statistically the greatest qualifier, who now has 66 poles to his name, clocked a 1:22.795 to beat Jenson Button to the P1 slot. Michael Schumacher says Ferrari is gearing up for an all-out assault at Imola. Ferrari is preparing a significant upgrade for its first home Grand Prix of 2006. The red car driven by Michael Schumacher at Imola later this month will boast better aerodynamics, a stronger V8 engine with revised pistons, new front and rear suspension and new Bridgestone tyres. ”We are going to work flat out for three weeks,” Schumacher vowed. The 37-year-old will test the new Imola-spec package next week at Barcelona. Ferrari Principal Jean Todt said: ”I think we can be competitive at Imola — exactly how competitive, we will find out. ”Much depends on the other teams. We will have a significant upgrade in Imola, but we will not be the only ones.”
The seven-time champion, who crashed out of the Australian Grand Prix having struggled for pace on cold tyres, said that his performance in Melbourne is not representative of Ferrari’s competitive level in 2006. “performances like that of this weekend are not our objective,” said Schumacher. “This year is completely different,” he said. “This time we are much more competitive and our all-round package is much better than it appears. Aborted start! 2 Formation laps! 4 Safety car sessions!. Incident, accident and drama and though it all came Fernando Alonso walked away with his 1st Australian Grand Prix and his second of the season to strengthen his early stranglehold on a second straight drivers’ title. The only thing missing is rain on a perfect day of Formula1.
It was not such a good day for Giancarlo Fisichella and Juan Pablo Montoya in the second Renault and McLaren as both had their own drama even before the race had got underway. Montoya, who qualified in fifth position, was bust warming up his brakes and tyres as he exited the final turn to approach the starting grid. The Colombian lost control of his McLaren and it seemed he was in for a long day from the back of the pack. Fortunately for him Giancarlo Fisichella inexplicably stalled his Renault on the front row of the grid.
