The dev team at K2 released an update to K2 0.9, so I updated the 3 Column K2 to 0.9.1 as the new K2 release (0.9.1) fixes a number of bugs and is a recommended upgrade. I have removed all the IE hacks I added in the previous release and modified the css, which I hope fixes all the issues we had in the previous release. For me this looks like the best 3 Column K2 release so far. So, go download it from the 3 Column K2 page and let me know if you still find anything wrong.

Hmm, it should be in styles, switch folder. Anyways please download it again. I forgot to remove the svn files at first and I just uploaded a new file without them. Sorry for that.

Yesterday I tried 3 Column K2 0.9 , but on adding a Calendar or any other modules to a sidebar (using sidebar modules) resulted in everything else disapearing from that sidebar.
Any idea why this is happening?
John: Everything will disappear if u start using sidebar modules. So either u have to stick with sidebar modules or the sidebar that comes with K2. Sidebar modules are just like wordpress widgets. So u have to add everything using sidebar modules.

Great work! Everything looks perfectly fine in IE. The only slight problem is that
for some reason gravatars don’t show in IE. Everything else works fine though.

To remove all the confusion I switched to the latest 3 Column K2 release. I havent made any changes and using as it is available for download.
And I am posting this comment form IE 6.0.
Mvuinc: All the gravatars show up in IE for me. Instead of changing from previous release to this release just use uninstall option in K2 options and then activate this new release. Everything I promised seems to work perfect.
before I start working on further customizations for 3 Column K2, I want to know if there are any more bugs. So, guys please leave ur comments.

I tried reinstalling 3k2 from scratch, but the same problem still arises. I don’t see the gravatars in IE. It’s pretty weird, because I can see that it works for yours.
I’m scratching my head, trying to see what’s the problem. Any ideas? I don’t see the gravatars, but if i hover over the place where it should be, it’s an active link to gravatar.com . This is very strange. I can’t wait to get this theme fully working, it’s such a good one.
Mvuinc- I face the same problem with my theme. But it is using an old svn version of K2.
Bharath- this release displayed fine in IE 6.0
But the Live Search and Rolling Archives don’t work too well in IE 6.0
For Example, when I use the Live Search, the loader image goes on forever and the results don’t show until I press [Enter]
Also, I am working on a new K2 Mod based on your theme this time.Let me know if you allow customizations based on your theme to be released for the public.
John: I dont see any problem with Live search and rolling archives. I am also using IE 6.0. The results are displayed perfectly and no drama. So let some one else report if this is a problem and I will look in to that. [edited] And thanx for letting me know.
Regarding new mod, you have to wait till the 3columnk2 1.0 is released John. Because I have some more plans for this. Will let you all know very soon and I am sorry for that.

I need a technorati tag solution ,, Ultimate Tag warrior seemed to be the most recommended , Decided on UTW ,,

You have to go to Admin Panel and setup the options there for UTW.
There is a bug when loading the Flickrss plugin in Safari. The images load but are all over the place. Doesn’t occur in any other Mac browser I’ve tried.
Hey Paul. It looks fine for me in my safari on MAC. I just checked it for you. I dont know what’s causing you that problem. Have u checked using K2.

thanks for the 3K2. Just installed but cannot find where to configure the sidebar. Do I need a plugin for it ?
Nigel: Select switch.css in the K2 scheme option. It will be present under Presentation -> K2 options in wordpress admin.
Note - what are the differences between the download and the current K2 release? Can I just add switch.css to my up-to-date K2 install (that already has mods) and expect things to work?
Looks like sidebar code needs the div modifications, but anything else?
Andrew: There are some changes in the original style sheet and in k2functions. So, no it wont work if u just add the switch.css.
I’have 2 problems…
1.
using 3k2 theme, i can’t delete posts and pages. Server returns a 500 internal server error, or a white page without deleting objects.
I switched to default theme, and all works fine!
how can i fix this problem?
2. I have some whyte headers images, so, i can’t see headers butons. (buttons like your’s Blog Archives 3ColumnK2 Links About Register)

How does one do a diff of text files in two different directories? I use PSPad editor but it will only diff two files at a time.
Great theme, though I need to insert extra code for security functions etc. Knowing what files are modified for 3K2 would be helpful for any future upgrade.

Second, just try to change the background of the menu tabs in ur css.
Andrew Schmitt: I never tried that soft, but I know lot of them exists to check the diff in 2 files. And the changes, I already told above. Thats all I have changed.

Now…i tried to put the “lightbox plugin” for photos…and i think is a conflict in js files for rollingarchives. … I deactivated and deleted the lightbox plugin…but still rolling archives don’t work.
Here’s an easy bug.
- Turn dynamic sidebars on
- Create a Static Page
- Add some modules to column 2
- Set all column 2 modules so that they do not display on static pages
Then, when viewing a static page, column two runs the code as if dynamic sidebars were tunred off.
Workaround: Assign an html sidebar to display on every page with html comment code .
It seems that the code in sidebar.php where you check dynamic_sidebar(2) is not working if all of the sidebar modules for that column are disabled for a static page.

- remove the small clock and comments graphics that appear below the post title

Bharath I totally removed K2 and reloaded your latest version but I am still having the same issue with the sidebar dropping all the way down in IE. That widget is a table and I kept reducing the width of the table and it didn’t do anything. Just looking for your thoughts?

Great job on the update! I really like this 3 column theme and I am still using it. I just upgraded, WP to 2.0.4, K2 to 0.9 and also your theme to the latest release.
I cannot manage to get 2 sidebars in the Widgets managing area though… it is still only showing “Sidebar 1?. What can I do about that. I don’t remember how I got it to work the last time I upgraded. I have switched to switch in styles, I also entered the information about the style I am using (%syle% etc) but then it shows up the old version that I used, I find that strange.
Also, the slidebar at the top and the text are not aligned, part of the slidebar covers the text.
Keep up the good work, I like it. A lot. You deserve all the credits and apprecition you get.

I just upgraded to the latest theme.
Now all of a sudden, my comments are gone in the individual posts.
I can see them on the front page in the sidebar, but when i click on them, it does not show any comments in the post.
It also shows as 0 Comments in the individual post page but there are comments.
Can someone check my blog and tell me what is wrong.

Is there a way to modify the css to change this to 3 column with a “T” look? (as in sidebars on either side. There is another K2 3 column modification that is like this - but it’s not in step with the latest release of K2, and looks like it’s got problems..

When i use any other theme, the comments show in the individual post but when i use this theme, they dont show at all.
Also on the main page even though there are comments on the post it shows up as “0 comments”

Thanks Bharath for this great K2 skin. The biggest problem I am facing is that the Wp-dTree plugin does not work for this skin. It gets installed and activated fine but when I paste it’s code for tree categories like:
if (function_exists(’silpstream_wp_dtree_get_categories’)) {
silpstream_wp_dtree_get_categories();
}
anywhere in any templates, the code appears on the blog without the tree menu of categories. This plugin works perfectly well in all other non-K2 skins.
I wanted to make a knowledgebase portal based on your 3C K2’s LiveSearch and this Wp-dTree plugin (made by Christopher Hwang, the maker of Scriptaculous) but cannot get the dTree plugin to work. Please please Bharath. I will be happy for any kind of help to resolve this problem. Awaiting your kind reply

I heard abt this even though I am not able to recreate that problem. The best thing u can do is, uninstall the k2 theme and activate it again. Let me know if it solves the problem. Anyways I will update this version with the latest svn release soon.

Yours seems almost there! (Perhaps the only one using the latest K2 AND widget support for both sidebars)
My question: is there a way to integrate what you’ve done in switch.css into the main theme codes, so that the 3 column style is default?
This way, I guess we’ll be able to change the look of the theme without messing with its basic (3 Column) functions?
If this is possible, would love to hear how to integrate the switch.css functions into the base theme code.
Also, I too would be a huge fan of being able to toggle between 2 left sidebars, 2 right sidebars and the ‘T’ look

I am quite perplexed and frankly getting frustrated. Which is exacerbated by the lack of sleep following the birth of my son - which the site is about.
I worked on my site for a month using the 3k2 .0.9.1 and every thing was beautiful.
Two days after I announced the site to friends and family… the sidebar modules DISAPPEARED. Gone from the site and gone from the admin.
I even went so far as to DELETE THE ENTIRE WP INSTALL from the site. Reinstalled WP (2.0.4) and DL’d both K2 and 3k2 so they would be completely fresh installs.
Neither K2 nor 3k2 are showing sidebar modules in the admin.
I am assuming this has nothing to do with the MySql DB, how could that effect the admin of the site… breaking the built-in sidebar module admin and functionality?
Am i missing something? Is there some switch I forgot about that turns dynamic sidebars on or off?

Hi, I encountered a problem with AJAX commenting. When I submitted the comment, it turned out to tell me to give the comment after 15 seconds. After a LONG time, I still got the same message. The live search works just fine by the way. Any help is much appreciated!
So the sidebar module issue is resolved.
Not sure if it was exactly the MySql DB tables that were controlling the K2 options, but when I deleted them from the DB and reloaded 3k2 there was the sidebar module admin.
So more than likely the DB fouled.
There needs to be some kind of documentation on how this happens and the steps to resolve it.
Otherwise, I am good here.

If I’m not mistaken, what you need to do is go to ‘Presentation’, go to the sub-folder ‘3ColumnK2 Options’ or something like that and under the K2 Schemes drop down menu, select ’switch.css’ Give it a shot
nat: You are right, just select the theme, and go to K2 Options in presentation tab, then under K2 Scheme drop down menu, select switch.css and click on update options. BTW this version is old, I released a new version after this and you can d/l it from 3 Column K2 page.

Hi. I just updated to Wordpress 2.1.2 and totally got messed up with my 3-column layout. The Sidebar modules were completely missing. I have rebuilt some as I remember them, but arghh!
Also, now when I click on the page tabs, it never navigates away from the main “blog” page.
Things are looking a little grim ..
