Finally. Yes, the 3 Column K2 style now supports Widgets. Lot of people mailed me that they liked my 3 Column K2 Style, but they want the style to support Widgets. So this release is for all those Widgets fans waiting since the first release. Frankly, all I have changed is three lines of code and added couple more lines of code to the previous release. I should have done this long back but donno why I haven’t checked how to make widgets work. Ya, I was lil bizy with my other work as you might have noticed the low posting in the last 3 weeks. I even missed my favourite F1 last week again this season. Ok enough about me.
I promised to release the style featuring on my blog currently and I am holding it off for lil bit long. So, for all those people waiting for my current style, you have to wait. And to those people who copied the css of my current style, PLEASE give the credit to me or provide a link back to my site untill I release it for public. I, recently found a site where the owner of that site copied my css with all the commented lines as well. I hope he removes the css or provides a link back to me.
Anyways download this release five and njoy the Wordpress Widgets. The demo site is currently running with this release, so you can view how the widgetized 3 column k2 looks. Make sure you visit the K2 Support Forum too. Leave all your comments on how you like this release and wat else you want to see in this style.

I installed this style, but how can I include my sidebar asides in a bar as a widget? They only show up when widgets plugin is deactivated. Any help highly appreciated.
My site at http://www.wifiknight.com doesn’t seem to like your sidebars. As soon as I filled up the 2 sidebars with my widgets in the config, that happened. It works fine if I remove all the widgets..
Any way I can bump the right sidebar up to be level with the left?

The ONLY issue I have now is.. I cannot get any PAGES to show up, at least under the Pages widget.

I have you template on my site, but I note both on my site and on yours that there is no page slider bar when on a category or archive page. Consequently there is NO way for a person to navigate to all blog entries in a given month or category, it the posts exceed the given number that are allowed for one page. What *should* this look like?
I am sure I can add previous/next links, but I’d prefer the slider. Is this hard to implement? I’m figuring it’s quicker to ask you than try it myself!
Otherwise - a WONDERFUL template, which I am just starting to play with…

I’m a newb, so I don’t quite understand what any of this means.
I am using the 344 version of K2 - will the 3CK2 not work with newer versions at all? - I have downloaded and uploaded the wigetized 3 Column theme. I put it in the Themes folder and I have choosen “switch.css” in the Style menu. I am still only using one sidebar though… Since it is widgetized, shouldn’t it be possible to choose between two sidebars in the Widget options area?
Or do I have to move them around manually?

@Evan: Sidebar will be shown on all pages including sub-pages. I didnt understand wat you mean by custom field.
Well, with the Fauna theme (http://www.noscope.com/fauna/), you can customize the sidebar on each page/subpage by adding ’sidebar’ to the custom fields option within each page/subpage. I’m not sure if it’s a plugin or what - I haven’t been able to find anything like that at over the WP-Plugins site (wp-plugins.net)
I was just curious to find out if something like that was available w/ K2.
@Evan: You mean you want to customize the sidebars on each page with what you want to show. If so, check the sidebar-modules plugin in K2 forums. I never used it or tried it. So head over to the forums and give it a try.

Hey bharat, I’m having couple of problems :
1) I cant see the live search on my sidebar. I’ve activated it in the options page.
2) same goes with Asides [ category : Asides, no: 3 ] . I cant see it anywhere, even after I’ve activated it in options page. What should I do? I have no knowledge of the coding and a newb to WP.

Hi, I could not get asides to appear in my sidebar using this theme. As a workaround, I installed the Sideblog widget. That got asides working, but then my posts would not show up in the loop; instead I got an error starting with “WordPress database error: [Not unique table/alias: 'wp_post2cat']” (I will spare you the rest). I did some research but I still have a lot to learn and had just about given up trying to get asides working with or without the Sideblog widget, when I noticed Alok’s post here. I visited his blog and saw that he had posted about getting asides to work. I emailed him and he was kind enough to let me know the solution. I thought I would share it here for anyone else having this issue:
If you are using this theme and install the Sideblog widget, make sure that you disable asides in the K2 options by selecting “No Asides” from the drop down menu.

I would still love to know how to get asides to appear in a sidebar without using the Sideblog widget, just for my own edification. Also, as someone else mentioned above, live search does not work for me either (tested with two supported browsers).
Alok and Nyomi: When u enable widgets nothing from sidebar.php works. But I will soon modify the 3 column k2 to have Livesearch and widgets working.

Menj: Have u tried revision 403 ?. I tried it, its still broken. I am keeping an eye on those svn revisions. Dont worry, once I find its fine, I will update the 3 column k2. After all I am doing this for you people. Keep checking and I will release the new revision soon.

Great job on the update! I really like this 3 column theme and I am still using it. I just upgraded, WP, K2 and also you theme.
I cannot manage to get 2 sidebars in the Widgets managing area though… it is still only showing “Sidebar 1″. What can I do about that. I don’t remember how I got it to work the last time I upgraded.
Also, the slidebar at the top and the text are not aligned, part of the slidebar covers the text.

I encountered a problem with AJAX commenting. When I submited a comment, it turned out to tell me to wait for 15 seconds. No matter how long I waited, I still couldnt submit the comment. Any help and instruction is greatly appreciated!

Yes, I have noticed that 3 Column k2 is remarkably slow too especially on this site http://ausmaced.org/. My early suspicion was that the problem was WP-Cache but I noticed that Bharath’s own site, this one, and the demo-site were slow to load also. Cleverly Bharath has a background colour load early so it appears that something is happening. However the problem seems to be with the utilisation of K2 and and the way it requires the browser to fully render the full page in the background (minus the header image) before the page is displayed all together.
I wonder if there is a way to make the page render in a more staggered fashion to give the impression that 3 Column k2 isn’t such a slow theme.
Paul: My site is not updated with the latest svn release of K2 and lots of things r different from original 3 Column k2. Regarding the demo site, I am not sure. i will have a look into wats happening with my server. And BTW I will post an update to the 3 Column K2 with latest svn release. I think they have done some optimizations in the latest SVN release.
